Sperimentazione: nelle forme, nei materiali, nelle lavorazioni. Questa è la parola chiave della collezione A/I 2011-12 del marchio Tufi Duek firmata da Eduardo Pombal (diventato head designer del brand nel 2009). Per la collezione, Pombal ha tratto ispirazione da un suo recente viaggio in Svezia: affascinato dall'esperienza, ha deciso di trasporre l'architettura e il design scandinavo nelle forme e nelle geometrie degli abiti della sua nuova collezione. Alla linearità e al minimalismo scandinavo, il designer ha deciso poi di affiancare un'attentissima ricerca nei materiali e nelle loro lavorazioni, riuscendo così ad ottenenere una sorta di "minimalismo futuristico", all'interno del quale anche materiali (pelle, paillettes..) e lavorazioni (rouches) tipicamente lontani dall'essenzialità e dal rigore si armonizzano perfettamente con i tagli più decisi e le silhouettes più lineari, creando un effetto finale a dir poco fantastico.

Inutile dire che la prima volta che vidi questa collezione rimasi di stucco: è probabilmente una delle più belle sfilate di queste più recenti fashion week (New York e Londra comprese) e non c'è un solo capo che non acquisterei (accessori compresi*); se fossi una buyer, non mi lascerei mai scappare una tale perla (non so per quale oscuro motivo, ma i capi di questo brand non sono -per ora- acquistabile né online né in negozi europei/italiani)!!



Experimentation: in the shapes, materials and in the processing. That’s the key-word of the AW 2011-12 Collection of the Brazilian brand Tufi Duek, whose designer has become Eduardo Pombal in 2009. For this collection, Pombal has taken inspiration from a recent trip of his in Sweden: he has been so fascinated by that experience that he has decided to transpose the Scandinavian architecture and design in the shapes and geometries of his new collection dresses. Moreover, the designer has decided to add a careful research of the materials and of their processing to that Scandinavian linearity and minimalism; in this way he has obtained a kind of “futuristic minimalism”, inside of which even those materials (such as leather and sequins) and adornments (like ruffles) which are usually foreign to the essentiality and rigour are being perfectly balanced with the stronger cuts and the more linear silhouettes. As you can see, the final effect is something extraordinary, indeed.

I think it’s pretty clear that I’ve fallen in love with this collection: the first time I saw it I was literally speechless, as it’s probably one of the most beautiful fashion shows of these latest fashion weeks (New York and London included) and there’s not one single item (or accessory*) I wouldn’t wear immediately. If I were a buyer, I would NEVER loose such a marvellous treasure (I really don’t know why, but you can’t buy anything of this brand outside of Brazil and of the USA, as there’s no online or European/Italian shop that allows you to buy it)!!

*Una piccola nota va fatta sugli accessori. Secondo me non si poteva chiedere di meglio: legno, pelle e metallo, materiali che vogliono mantenere la "naturalità" e la "purezza" della collezione intatte e che, grazie al design impeccabile, diventano perfetto accompagnamento di abiti assolutamente meravigliosi.


*a special mention has to be made on the accessories. Nothing could have been done in a better way: the combination of materials such as wood, leather and metal and the (impeccable) design has managed to keep intact the purity of the collection and made those accessories just the perfect pieces to pair with those marvellous dresses.
