Le migliori sfilate P/E 2011 (NY e Milano) - Best S/S 2011 Fashion Shows (NY and Milan)

So che le Sfilate P/E 2011 sono ormai solo un vecchio ricordo e che siamo già impazienti di vedere le prossime, però ho pensato che sarebbe stato utile fare un punto della situazione su quanto abbiamo visto nelle ultime passerelle: ho perciò deciso di redigere una (mia) "Top 3" per ognuna delle 4 principali Fashion Weeks: New York, Milano, Parigi e Londra.

Oggi mi dedicherò a NY e Milano.

I know that S/S 2011 Fashion Shows are already an old memory and that we can’t wait to see the next ones, but I’ve thought that it would have been useful to take stock of the situation about what we’ve seen on the latest runways: therefore I’ve decided to write a (personal) “Top 3” for each one of the 4 main Fashion Weeks: New York, Milan, Paris and London.

Today I’m going to focus on NY and Milan.

New York:

    1. Marc Jacobs

         "Una lettera d'amore alla moda", così Stefano Tonchi, editore
         di "W. Magazine" definisce la collezione. Quello che colpisce
         di questa sfilata non è tanto il chiaro richiamo agli anni '70, nè
         il magistrale uso dei colori, quanto, riprendendo il discorso di
         Tonchi, "la sensazione, l'energia, il mood".
         Si sa, per Marc Jacobs "i vestiti sono solo vestiti, e sempre lo
         saranno": verissimo. Ma quando alla base c'è una cultura così
         vasta, essa emerge sempre, anche involontariamente.  
         Come Re Mida quindi, Jacobs trasforma qualsiasi cosa in Moda.

        
         “A love letter to Fashion”, with these words Stefano Tonchi,
         editor of “W Magazine”, defines the collection. What strikes
         you is neither the clear reference to the 70’s nor the excellent
         use of colours, but “the feeling, the energy, the mood”, as Tonchi
         said.
         You know, according to Marc Jacobs “clothes are just clothes,
         they’ll always be clothes”; that’s absolutely true. But when there’s
         such a wide culture at the base, it always emerges, even
         unintentionally.         
         So, just like King Midas, Jacobs turns everything into Fashion.   

    2. J. Mendel

         Drappeggio, chiffon, colori-non colori (bianchi, toni polverosi)
         spezzati all'occasione da toni arancio vivo. Unisci tutti questi
         elementi ed otterrai (se sei Gilles Mendel) abiti leggeri, eterei,
         che esaltano la figura femminile. Sono abiti capaci di trasportarti
         in un altro mondo, degni di una prima ballerina. 


         Drape, chiffon, colours-non colours (whites, powdery tones),
         all popped up by touches of bright orange. If you put all these
         elements together, you will obtain (if you’re Gilles Mendel) light,
         ethereal and bodyconscious dresses. These clothes are able to
         carry you into another world; they’re just worthy of a prima ballerina.

    3. 3.1 Phillip Lim

         5 tipi di pizzo applicati su un solo abito per ricreare motivi
         geometrici diversi, fili di corda (sì, corda) uniti a perline e
         seta, pelle finissima insieme ad organza. Lo studio (attentissimo)
         dei materiali in questa sfilata è impressionante e l'effetto finale
         è un capolavoro. Quando si dice ossessione. 


         5 types of lace have been used just to recreate different
         geometrical patterns in one single dress, rope (yes, rope)
         threads have been put together with beads and silk, fine
         leather has been associated with organza. The (careful) study
         of materials in this fashion show has been grand and the final
         effect is just a masterpiece. When you talk about obsession.  

Milano:

    1. Francesco Scognamiglio

          Tra classicità ed avanguardia, da Napoli all'Opéra di Versailles. 
          Per celebrare i 10 anni del suo marchio, Scognamiglio decide di
          rinnovare la linea: spuntano così tubini in lattice ricamati da perle, 
          soprabiti dalle spalle esagerate, minidress in pizzo ed organza.
          Ed è subito amore. C'è chi fa moda e chi fa arte. E poi c'è
          Scognamiglio, che unisce l'arte alla Moda, quella vera.


          Between classical and avant-garde, from Naples to the Opéra
          of Versailles. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his own brand,
          Scognamiglio decides to update his line: that’s why latex sheath
          dresses embroidered with pearls, outerwear with oversized
          shoulders and lace and organza minidresses come out from the
          runway. And it’s immediate love. There are those who make art
          and those who makes clothes. And then there’s Scognamiglio,
          who joins art to Fashion, the real one.

    2. Antonio Marras

         Una poesia. Questa è l’unica parola in grado di descrivere la
         collezione P/E 2011 di Marras. E, proprio come una poesia,
         anch' essa ha due livelli di lettura: uno più immediato ed
         universale (bellissimi tessuti, colori eccezionali, grandissima
         artigianalità, stampe che richiamano la sua terra) ed uno
         invece più profondo, personale. È una poesia, sì, ma deve essere 
         letta e riletta più volte, perché è sempre in grado di rivelarci
         qualcosa di nuovo.


         A poem. This is the only word that can describe S/S Marras
         Collection. And, just like a poem, it has two different reading
         levels: the first one is more immediate and universal (gorgeous
         fabrics, exceptional colours, great craftsmanship, patterns that
         remind you of the designer’s native country –Sardinia-), while
         the second one is deeper and more personal. But this poem has
         to be read several times, because it’s always able to reveal you
         something new.



    3. Moschino Cheap & Chic

         Inizialmente questa collezione mi sembrava un'accozzaglia di
         forme e colori. Ma più la osservavo più mi accorgevo che ciò
         non era vero. Così mi è venuto da sorridere. Non è un'accozzaglia,
         è un puzzle. Basta che ognuno scelga i propri pezzi, crei con essi
         la sua storia ed il gioco è fatto.


         At the very beginning this collection seemed to me like a messy
         patchwork of forms and colours. But the more I looked at it the
         more I realized that that wasn’t true. Therefore I started to smile.
         It is not a messy patchwork, it’s a puzzle. You just have to pick up
         your pieces, create your story with them and the work is done.
